Authored by Pedro Ferreira Architecture Studio, the project aimed to create a set of apartments and shops that preserved the entire spatial structure and concept of preexistence that, although the exterior appears to have only two floors, is actually distributed over four habitable floors. This baroque organization still evident inside the building, particularly on the existing stone stairs, served as a starting point for the definition of the proposal.

Organized in a simple but rigorous way, the spaces are strongly illuminated and marked by conserved elements of the original spaces, such as the arches between divisions, granite stonework or carpentry. Highlighted, the common staircase access ing the second floor asserts itself as a new element. Necessary and impossible to dilute in the set, it is admittedly contemporary and geometric, with a strong color, also baroque-inspired.

With eleven apartments of typologies ranging from T0 to T2, in the House of Patios the dialogue between past and present is peaceful, reflecting in the contained but elegant interior spaces, animated by the variation of natural light.

This building has won several reinhabiting awards over the past few years.
